Our Favorite Restaurants
When we arrived in Bryan/College Station in 1971, there were really only three places to eat. You chose between barbeque on butcher paper at Arnold’s, upscale at The Texan Restaurant, or the Holliday Inn.
Great News! We now have wonderful dining selections available. Here are a few of our favorites:
4401 S. Texas Avenue, Bryan, TX 77840
At Café Eccell the fresh seafood is cleaned in-house daily, the wood burning pizza fire is built by hand, and the kitchen sizzles with food that excites the senses. In addition to serving fresh seafood within 24 hours of arrival, there is a plentiful selection of fare such as the Famous 101 Church Chicken Salad, the Certified Angus Beef Steaks, and the Shrimp BLT. Also known for their pastry chef’s dessert offerings, Café Eccell is a true grill and fresh seafood bistro.
This is a favorite of A&M students, faculty, and alumni. Many of our long-time guests dine at Café Eccell on every visit to Aggieland.

1701 University Dr. E.; College Station, TX 77840 (979) 260-1701
Cheddar’s is unique in casual dining, and a favorite of Aggie students. The contemporary upscale décor complements the fun, high-energy service and ambiance that accommodates casual and special occasion guests alike. From “falling off the bone tender” baby back ribs and choice aged steaks to fabulous chicken tenders and sumptuous half pound hamburgers, and a selection at heart healthy entreés from “a restaurant guide to low-fat dining in the Brazos Valley.” Each menu item is prepared from the highest quality products available and made from scratch daily. And with such large portions of food and libations, you will wonder how the prices are so reasonable.
NOTE: A “must go” for Aggies when their parents come to visit. Cheddar’s is often crowded and the wait can be long. When the lot is full, and the line is long, George often bypasses the wait by eating in the bar.
